Moscow, June 05 (QNA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that he sees no point in meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Speaking at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, he said that a meeting with Zelenskyy is possible, but only after reaching an agreement. He noted that he has never refused to meet with the Ukrainian president, but he refuses to meet "simply for the sake of repeating the same things without any result."

The Russian president added that the Ukrainians request meetings (with the Russians), but at the same time they commit "horrific crimes," referring in this context to the attack on the city of Starobelsk.

On the other hand, Putin asserted that Russia would undoubtedly succeed in what he called the "liberation of Donbas," stating, "Since April 1st of this year, the Luhansk People's Republic has been under the complete control of the Russian Federation, while less than 15 percent of the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic remains under Kyiv's control." He added, "We are quietly but steadily advancing toward achieving these goals, and there is no doubt that we will succeed."

In another context, the Russian president stated that the world is currently undergoing its greatest structural transformation in decades. This transformation is not merely a transition from one phase to another, but a change in the global development model itself. Moscow views these current global changes not only as a threat but also as a tremendous opportunity.

He added, "Russia is fully aware of the changes (in the world). Pressure on our country persists, but at the same time, we have greater room for maneuver. New partnerships have emerged, along with innovative financial and technological solutions, and we are working to develop promising markets."

Putin also stressed that attempts to isolate Russia have failed from the start, noting that continued cooperation with certain partners and companies in the United States was among the factors that prevented this isolation. (QNA)
