Dallas, June 30 (QNA) - The Norwegian national team advanced to the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, defeating Cote d'Ivoire 2–1 in a round of 32 match at Dallas Stadium.

Antonio Nusa opened the scoring for Norway in the 39th minute. Cote d'Ivoire responded strongly in the second half, with Amad Diallo scoring the equalizer in the 74th minute. However, Norwegian striker Erling Haaland capitalized on a late opportunity to seal the victory in the 86th minute.

With this result, Norway advances to face Brazil in the round of 16 on Sunday, July 5, at New York New Jersey Stadium, while Cote d'Ivoire has been eliminated from the tournament.

With his late strike, Haaland reached 60 goals for his country in 53 appearances, becoming the fastest player in international football history to hit that milestone. It was also his fifth goal of this World Cup, following two-goal performances against Iraq and Senegal during the group stage. (QNA)
