Qatar Charity’s Alaqraboon Center Supports 17,500 Local Beneficiaries Through Udhiyah Project
Doha, June 03 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC), through its Alaqraboon Center, successfully implemented its sacrifice (Udhiyah) project in Qatar, benefiting around 17,500 individuals from low-income families, as part of its "The Greatest Days" campaign.
The project was carried out with the support of generous donors in Qatar and reflects Qatar Charity's continued commitment to strengthening social solidarity and supporting those with limited income across the country. It targeted a wide range of beneficiaries, including low-income families, widows, divorcees, orphans and their families, and families of prisoners.
Meat from a total of 1,750 sacrifices was distributed, ensuring efficient, transparent delivery and maximizing the humanitarian impact of donors' contributions.
The Alaqraboon Center adopted a smart distribution mechanism using electronic coupons through its mobile application. Beneficiaries received notifications enabling them to select the nearest collection point and a convenient time for receipt.
This system helped streamline operations, reduce congestion, and provide a smooth and flexible experience, while preserving beneficiaries'dignity and privacy—reflecting Qatar Charity’s approach to leveraging digital solutions in humanitarian service delivery.
Distribution was conducted through more than 25 Al Meera branches across Qatar, ensuring accessibility and timely delivery throughout the Eid period.
Commenting on the initiative, Executive Director of Alaqraboon Center Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida expressed his appreciation to donors, saying: "We were keen to ensure a smooth and efficient distribution process this year, while respecting beneficiaries’ privacy through the smart solutions adopted."
He added that the project reflects Qatar Charity's mission to serve the local community and promote the values of compassion and solidarity, noting that donor trust remains fundamental to the success and sustainability of such initiatives.
Alongside the sacrifice project, Alaqraboon Center implemented a series of child-focused programs under the same campaign, including the Eid Gift (Eidi) Project and the "Eid Joy" program, benefiting 1,656 orphans and children from low-income families.
The Eid Gift initiative provided direct financial support to children, helping them meet their Eid needs.
The Eid Joy program offered recreational and interactive activities designed to bring happiness and strengthen social inclusion during the festive season. The activities included dedicated events for boys and girls, featuring entertainment, workshops, competitions, and the distribution of gifts in a festive and supportive environment. (QNA)
