Paris, June 29 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the IMF Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Thematic Fund meeting held in Paris, France.

At the meeting, Qatar was represented by the Secretary-General of the National Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Committee, Mohammed Saree Rashid Al Kaabi.

Qatar’s participation comes as a founding member of the fund since its establishment in 2009, and as one of the countries supporting its activities and programs. This reflects Qatar’s firm belief in the importance of strengthening the integrity and stability of the global financial system and supporting international efforts to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and proliferation financing, thereby helping protect the global economy and enhance the soundness of the financial sector.

The meeting discussed key developments and updates related to the fund’s work, as well as its achievements in building countries’ technical capacities, providing technical assistance, and strengthening compliance with international standards on anti-money laundering and combating terrorism financing.

The meeting also addressed the fund’s future plans and priorities for the next phase, in ways that support the effectiveness of national and international systems in countering illicit financial risks. (QNA)
