Lebanon and Israel Sign US-Backed Framework Agreement
Washington, June 26 (QNA) - Lebanon and Israel have signed a US-brokered framework agreement following several days of negotiations in Washington, marking what American officials described as an initial step towards peace.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the two sides had reached the agreement after talks in the US capital, adding that negotiators had taken "an important step towards achieving peace between Lebanon and Israel", while cautioning that "there is still a long way to go".
Lebanese Ambassador to the United States Nada Moawad described the signing as "a first step towards restoring Lebanon's sovereignty".
