Qatar Shura Council, Azerbaijan Parliament Discuss Further Bilateral Cooperation
Baku, June 25 (QNA) - Qatar's Shura Council and Azerbaijan's Parliament held official talks in Baku on Thursday, focusing on ways to deepen bilateral relations and enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
The talks were co-chaired by HE Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim and HE Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 20th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), currently being hosted by Azerbaijan.
At the start of the discussions, both sides highlighted the growing friendship between Qatar and Azerbaijan, describing the relationship as one built on mutual respect and constructive cooperation. They noted that ties between the two countries continue to expand across various sectors in ways that serve the interests of both nations and their peoples.
The talks reviewed existing parliamentary cooperation and explored opportunities to further strengthen coordination between the two legislative bodies. Discussions also covered collaboration within regional and international parliamentary forums, with both sides stressing the importance of closer coordination on issues of shared interest.
The two delegations underscored the value of continuing the exchange of parliamentary expertise and maintaining regular communication. They also highlighted the role of parliamentary friendship groups as an important mechanism for supporting legislative cooperation and advancing joint positions on matters of common concern.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening parliamentary engagement as part of the broader and growing relationship between Qatar and Azerbaijan. (QNA)
