Doha, June 25 (QNA) - The Public Prosecution, represented by the Institute of Criminal Studies, organized Thursday a scientific and awareness seminar to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The seminar was attended by a number of prosecutors along with specialists from various bodies in the country.

The seminar addressed several key themes related to combating drugs, including a presentation on "The Role of the Public Prosecution within the National Efforts of the State of Qatar in Combating Drugs," delivered by Head of the Narcotics Prosecution at the Public Prosecution, Ahmed Ali Al Sulaiti. Meanwhile, Advisor at the Court of Appeal in the State of Kuwait, Mohammed Rashid Al Duaij outlined Kuwait's legislative experience in light of the new anti-drug law.

The seminar also featured a presentation on "Behavioral and Community-Based Treatment of Drug Abuse," delivered by Dr. Khalid Hamad Al Muhannadi, a psychology consultant at the National Service Academy.

The seminar also featured interactive discussions and showcased important information and successful national experiences in enhancing professional awareness to combat the scourge of drugs.

The Public Prosecution stated that organizing this seminar underlines the importance of combining national and Gulf efforts and promoting awareness and treatment as two essential pillars in drug control strategies, in addition to developing practical visions that contribute to protecting society from the dangers of the narcotics scourge.
