Qatar Opens Specialized Mental Health Clinic for Adults with Autism and Learning Difficulties
Doha, June 23 (QNA) - Qatar's Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and with support from the Ministry of Public Health, has launched a new Specialized Support Clinic at Al Sadd Health Center to expand access to integrated mental health services.
The clinic has begun operating its first phase, offering three weekly specialist clinics providing structured psychological support for adults with autism spectrum disorder and learning difficulties.
Dr. Salma Al Kaabi, Adviser to the Minister of Public Health and National Lead for Qatar's National Autism Plan, said the launch reflects the ministry's commitment to developing integrated and accessible models of care through effective coordination across the healthcare sector.
She said the initiative translates strategic planning and collaboration into services that better meet the needs of individuals with autism and their families while ensuring continuity of care throughout different stages of life.
Dr. Samya Al Abdulla, PHCC's Assistant Managing Director for Operations and Clinical Affairs, said the clinic demonstrates the corporation's commitment to expanding community-based, person-centered mental health services. She noted that the partnership with HMC enables specialist care to be delivered closer to patients' homes while ensuring seamless coordination and continuity of care.
Dr. Majid Al Abdullah, Chairman of Psychiatry at HMC, said the new service brings psychological support closer to patients and their families and makes it easier for adults to access the care they need. He added that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to delivering high-quality specialized support within a community setting. (QNA)
