Awqaf, MoEHE Hold Convocation Recognizing Religious Institute Students, 2025-2026
Doha, June 21 (QNA) - The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), in partnership with the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, held a convocation on Sunday recognizing the graduation of the Religious Institute Preparatory and Secondary School for Boys for the academic year 2025-2026.
The ceremony was attended by HE Undersecretary for the Ministry of Endowments, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, and HE Undersecretary of MoEHE, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi.
Having graduated 47 students representing 45 countries, this milestone demonstrates the advanced scientific and educational standing of this institute that was established in 1954 as a first educational enterprise in Sharia sciences in the State of Qatar.
Over the course of over seven decades, this institute has been an outgrowth of sustained educational development, mobilizing generations that combine scientific excellence with adherence to Islamic ethos and national identity.
Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi emphasized that science has superior status in Islam as the core of human building, nations' progression, and the path toward reform and reconstruction.
The State of Qatar has long held that science and education be given overriding priority and care, in a belief that people are the sublimest and enduring investment, Dr. Al Nuaimi told the gathering.
He added that today people assemble here to honor a new constellation of graduates who have exerted efforts and remained conscientious and patient in their pursuit of learning, because they believe that science isn’t merely the attainment of grades and knowledge, but rather a responsibility vested in people to serve religion, homeland, and society.
This recognition isn’t merely an occasion, but a celebration of an enduring educational career spanning over 72 years during which the institute has succeeded in graduating a vast number of scholars, teachers, judges, ambassadors, ministers, and key national figures who have significantly contributed to serving the homeland and the Islamic nation, Dr. Al Nuaimi underlined, affirming that they likewise engaged in the path toward development and construction the State of Qatar is witnessing.
Dr. Al Nuaimi further asserted that the institute has helped deepen the values of moderation, Islamic and national identity, and has mobilized generations capable of combining authenticity with modernity and upholding principles with conscious openness to the conditions of the modern era and its transformations.
The institute's message hasn’t been confined to the citizens and residents of the State of Qatar, but has spanned to a variety of corners around the Islamic world through scholarships that have drawn students from over 45 nations, making the institute a bridge for spreading Islam's noble values based on knowledge, mercy, and moderation, he highlighted.
Director of the Vocational, Technical, and Specialized Education Department at the Ministry, Eng. Hashem Mohammed Al Sada, affirmed that this graduation occasion holds deeper meanings than merely receiving academic certificates.
He emphasized that it is the culmination of a pathway during which minds have been built, personal skills have been honed, and a generation has been mobilized carrying the message of science and knowledge.
This Religious Institute has contributed to the upbringing of students who were raised on the Book of Allah and the Arabic language, and who internalized the knowledge and skills that qualify them to contribute to serving their society and nation, Al Sada shared.
He added that the State of Qatar believes that specialized education isn’t an alternative pathway, but rather a pathway for fostering excellence, building competencies, and mobilizing individuals capable of combining the authenticity of identity with the demands of the modern era.
The institute positions itself as a living testament to the fact that Islamic scholarship and the Arabic language aren’t sciences of the past, but rather a foundation for building the future, strengthening values, and shaping awareness, he underlined.
Addressing the convocation ceremony, student valedictorian Mohammed Faisal Mohammed Al Ansari expressed his sentiments of pride that he and his fellow graduates enjoy at this occasion, describing this day as a moment that combines the joy of accomplishment with the years-long memory of learning and giving in the institute's campus.
Al Ansari narrated the odyssey of students since their enrollment, highlighting that they commenced the experience with natural questions and hesitations, but they immediately realized that they were standing in front of an integrated educational edifice meant for reshaping human beings ahead of anything else.
