Arab Meeting Convenes in Cairo to Debate Israeli Practices Against Education in Occupied Palestinian Territories
Cairo, June 21 (QNA) - The 93rd Session of the Educational Affairs Council for the Palestinian People kicked off on Sunday.
The three-day event is set to run at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, with the agenda focusing on a raft of critical educational issues, foremost of which is the reality of the pedagogical process in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israeli practices against this process.
The agenda further addresses the situation of general and higher education, including Palestinian universities and community colleges, as well as the educational situation in occupied East Jerusalem, along with Judaization practices targeting it.
In his inaugural remarks before the session, the Assistant Secretary-General for Palestinian Affairs and the Occupied Arab Territories at the Arab League, Ambassador Faid Mustafa, underscored the importance of this session in the wake of the delicate situation facing the Palestinian people.
He noted that the Palestinian education sector is beset by unprecedented challenges due to Israeli assaults and violations and their fallout in terms of widespread devastation of educational infrastructure and the targeting of students, teachers, and educational institutions, including UNRWA-run facilities.
Mustafa stressed that what matters most is maintaining constant Arab and global support to ensure the right of the Palestinian people to education and to preserve the continuity of the educational process. (QNA)
