Arab League Denounces Extremist Colonizers' Raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque
Cairo, June 02 (QNA) - The Arab League has strongly denounced the incursions of extremist colonizers into Al-Aqsa Mosque under the maximum security of the Israeli occupation soldiers.
In a statement on Tuesday, the organization noted that these raids were characterized by provocative practices and abuses of the sanctity of this place, stressing that they amount to a grave escalation and provoke the sentiments of Muslims around the globe.
These acts run afoul of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as the historic and legal status quo of the Mosque, whose area spans 144 dunums and is exclusively devoted to Muslims for worship, the statement reads.
The statement continued that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, under Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, literally cares for and administers this holy site in accordance with the historic Hashemite Custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
In addition, the Arab League indicated that it is alarmed by the persistent imposition of restrictions by the Israeli occupation authorities on worshipers' access to the Mosque.
It noted that those working in the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, alongside mosque guardians, are being targeted, coupled with the ramping up of policies of banishment and detention.
These acts, the statement continued, fall under attempts to impose a new reality and alter the existing historic and legal status quo in the Holy City and its sanctities. (QNA)
