Lebanese President, US Secretary of State Discuss Region, Lebanon Developments
Beirut, June 19 (QNA) - Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the region in a phone call today with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
During the call, Aoun underlined halting Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory through a comprehensive ceasefire, which Beirut authorities consider a fundamental pillar for the progress of the Lebanese-Israeli negotiations scheduled to take place in Washington next week under US mediation.
The aim of these negotiations is to restore Lebanon's security and stability and guarantee its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
For his part, Rubio affirmed the United States' support for Lebanon and its commitment to working towards achieving security and stability in the country, extending state authority over all its territory, and supporting its legitimate security and military institutions, foremost among them the army.
