Damascus, June 18 (QNA) - Syrian experts and political analysts confirmed that the diplomatic efforts of the State of Qatar played a pivotal role in building bridges and bringing viewpoints closer between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which culminated in reaching an agreement on a memorandum of understanding that addresses the outstanding issues between them.

Experts told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that this agreement adds a new achievement to the record of successful Qatari mediations. It enhances the State of Qatar's growing role as a reliable diplomatic player in managing the most complex issues on the international stage, capable of contributing to addressing crises and supporting regional and international stability through dialogue and understanding.

The experts added that Qatar’s diplomatic approach, based on building trust, political balance, and maintaining open channels of communication with various parties, has contributed to creating a suitable environment for developing understandings that lead to reducing tension in the Middle East region.

For his part, former Syrian Minister of Communications Mohammed Yassin Al Najjar indicated that once again the State of Qatar has proven itself as an effective negotiator in dealing with complex issues and possesses a remarkable ability to smooth over differences and untangle knots between the conflicting parties, which has made it a trusted party for both Washington and Tehran.

In his statement to QNA, Al Najjar said that this confidence is due to Doha possessing highly efficient diplomatic and negotiating personnel, in addition to a large stock of professionalism, credibility, and the ability to work quietly, away from media spectacle or seeking to achieve gains.

He added that the State of Qatar, despite the challenges it has faced, has succeeded in maintaining its role as a regional mediator and adhering to its approach based on prioritizing regional stability and balanced negotiation, which has strengthened its international standing.

Qatar's diplomatic efforts, in cooperation with Pakistan, have contributed to building bridges of trust to manage disputes between the concerned parties, he added, stressing that the importance of this understanding goes beyond its direct parties. It represents a safety valve for the stability and security of the entire Middle East region by reducing the risks of military confrontation and reinforcing the conviction that political solutions are more sustainable than military options.

Al Najjar considered that the State of Qatar has become a unique diplomatic model on the international stage due to its numerous successes in the field of mediation and conflict resolution, thanks to its ability to combine positive neutrality, openness, and building consensual solutions.

In turn, researcher at the Syrian Center for Public Opinion Studies Firas Haj Yheia told QNA that Qatari diplomacy possesses the elements for successful mediation thanks to its balanced relations with the parties and its ability to keep communication channels open even during times of escalation.

He added that Qatar’s role was pivotal in maintaining the course of negotiations and preventing its collapse during periods of tension, which enabled this understanding to be reached between Washington and Tehran. He noted that the implications of the agreement are not limited to the region but extend to the global economy, especially with regard to energy markets and international maritime security.

Yheia added that any de-escalation between the two sides would have a positive impact on regional and international stability, and that Qatar’s continued sponsorship is a key element to ensure stability and overcome any challenges that may face its implementation. He stressed that its success enhances the growing position of the State of Qatar in the field of international mediation.

For his part, researcher at Jusoor Center for Studies Wael Alwan stated that Qatar's negotiating diplomacy has become an effective model for crisis management at both the regional and international levels. Thanks to its extensive mediation experience, it enjoys the trust of various parties, paving the way towards achieving stability and security worldwide.

In an exclusive statement to QNA, Alwan emphasized that Qatar's role came as a result of a long accumulation of diplomatic experience, enabling Doha to build a broad network of balanced relationships with various regional and international powers and giving it the ability to operate in sensitive areas where other parties find it difficult.

He added that over the past years, Qatar has established itself as a mediator that maintains an equal distance from the conflicting parties and works to bridge the gaps in viewpoints through calm dialogue and continuous communication. These attributes have made it a trusted partner for the parties involved in the US-Iran agreement.

He pointed out that maintaining open channels of communication between Washington and Tehran during periods of tension and escalation was a crucial factor. Acknowledging the importance of communication in de-escalation, Qatar has heavily contributed to keeping the communication door open.

Alwan emphasized that the importance of this memorandum transcends US-Iran bilateral relations, directly impacting Gulf security and Middle East stability.

He pointed out that the agreement also carries significant international dimensions, especially given the region's connection to global energy markets, maritime shipping lanes, and international trade. He indicated that any de-escalation between Washington and Tehran would contribute to strengthening economic stability and reducing concerns related to supply disruptions or security tensions in vital waterways.

He added that the success of Qatari mediation reflects Doha's ability to combine political flexibility with diplomatic credibility, essential elements in any complex negotiation process. He noted that Qatar has proven in numerous regional and international issues its ability to provide a suitable environment for dialogue and to manage disputes constructively.

He believes that Qatar's continued role in pursuing this path in the next phase will be a crucial factor in enhancing its chances of success and consolidating its outcomes, as the memorandum requires sustained efforts to maintain political momentum and address any obstacles that may arise during implementation.

Concluding his statement to QNA, Alwan said that the success of this path will add a new achievement to Qatar's record of mediation and will strengthen Doha's position as a reliable diplomatic player on the international stage, capable of contributing to resolving crises and supporting regional and international stability through dialogue and understanding.

In turn, Secretary-General of the Syrian National Movement Dr. Zakaria Malahifji affirmed that based on Qatar's balanced relations and its foreign policy, which prioritizes dialogue, openness, non-alignment, and political solutions, it was able to play a pivotal role that led to reaching an agreement on the MoU to address the outstanding issues between the American and Iranian sides.

Malahifji told QNA that Qatar maintained effective communication channels with the United States as a strategic partner, while simultaneously preserving stable relations with Iran. This positioned Qatar as an impartial and trusted mediator for both sides, contributing to bridging the gap between their viewpoints.

He added that Qatari mediation efforts helped create the right conditions to reaching the agreement, not only through the exchange of messages but also by building trust, narrowing differences, and fostering a conducive environment for dialogue and negotiation.

He emphasized that the agreement holds particular importance for the security and stability of the Gulf and the Middle East as a whole, reducing the likelihood of military confrontation, enhancing the security of vital maritime routes, stabilizing energy markets, and supporting diplomatic solutions to complex regional issues.

He noted that the success of Qatari efforts in reaching this agreement reflects Qatar's growing stature as an international mediator capable of managing crises. He added that continued dialogue between Washington and Tehran would yield significant political and economic gains by promoting stability and encouraging investment. (QNA)
