Qatar Participates in 39th AOAD General Assembly to Foster Food Security
Doha, June 18 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD)'s 39th General Assembly on Thursday.
The event was held virtually with the aim of advancing regional cooperation in agricultural sustainability and food security.
The Qatari delegation was led by HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah. The General Assembly reviewed the organization's active programs, strategic initiatives, and project portfolios, subsequently adopting a series of resolutions aimed at strengthening joint Arab action.
In his address, HE the Minister of Municipality expressed Qatar's appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by HE Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadley for its stewardship during the previous session and its contributions to regional agricultural frameworks.
HE Al Attiyah also congratulated the State of Kuwait on assuming the presidency of the current session, expressing confidence in its leadership to deliver outcomes that drive agricultural development and enhance collective Arab food security.
The minister affirmed that food security remains a fundamental pillar of national security and economic stability. He emphasized the critical need for deeper Arab integration, expanded cooperative frameworks, and targeted investment in agricultural innovation and modern technologies to build resilient, efficient, and sustainable food systems capable of mitigating global challenges.
Concluding his remarks, HE Al Attiyah reiterated Qatar's steadfast support for the AOAD's initiatives and knowledge-sharing frameworks aimed at capacity building. He underscored Doha's commitment to sustained coordination with Arab partners to advance mutual interests and achieve long-term, sustainable regional food security. (QNA)
