Kuwait, June 17 (QNA) - Kuwait's cabinet praised the role played by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, along with other brotherly and friendly nations, in bridging viewpoints and creating the conditions for reaching an agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which stipulates an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations, guarantees freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and addresses a number of other issues.

This came during the Kuwaiti cabinet meeting held today and chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah.

The cabinet reiterated the State of Kuwait's support for all efforts aimed at resolving disputes and conflicts peacefully and in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

It expressed Kuwait's hope that this understanding will constitute an important step towards broader approaches to addressing outstanding issues through sustainable solutions that will consolidate the principles of good neighborliness, foremost among which mutual respect, building trust, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, refraining from the use of force or the threat of force, and ceasing support for proxies.

Such solutions will contribute to establishing the foundations of security and stability at both the regional and international levels.

The Kuwaiti cabinet also expressed its hope that the agreement would contribute to ensuring the continued freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, calling on all parties to engage in the upcoming negotiations in a positive and constructive spirit. (QNA)
