FIFA World Cup 2026: Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina Play to 1-1 Draw in Group B Opener
Toronto, June 12 (QNA) - Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina played out a 1-1 draw in their opening Group B match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held at BMO Field in Toronto on Thursday.
The tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, runs through July 19.
Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukic capitalized on a corner kick, rising above the defense to head the ball into the net.
Canada responded in the second half and found the equalizer through striker Cyle Larin in the 78th minute. The forward drove into the penalty area before calmly finishing past the Bosnian goalkeeper.
The result earned both sides their first point of the tournament, leaving them temporarily level at the top of Group B ahead of Saturday's clash between Qatar and Switzerland, scheduled for 10:00 p.m. Doha time at San Francisco Bay Arena.
Canada will continue its group-stage campaign on June 19 when it hosts Qatar in Vancouver, while Bosnia and Herzegovina will face Switzerland on June 18 in their second Group B fixture. (QNA)
