UN Secretary General Expresses Concern Over Continued Settler Violence in West Bank
New York, June 11 (QNA) - UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over reports of settler violence in the occupied West Bank, warning that such actions risk rendering a two-state solution impossible.
In a social media post on X on Thursday, Guterres stated that home demolitions, the continued expansion of illegal Israeli settlements, the ongoing displacement of Palestinians, and the threat of annexation have no legal legitimacy, just as the decades-long occupation has no legal legitimacy.
The Secretary-General also highlighted the ongoing impunity surrounding these actions and stressed the urgent need to end these injustices, adding that states must comply with all their obligations under international law without exception.
Meanwhile, Britain, Canada, France, Norway, and New Zealand announced on Tuesday new coordinated sanctions against Israeli networks that have contributed to financing, facilitating, and executing settler violence in the occupied West Bank. (QNA)
