Doha, May 07 (QNA) - Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) and India's PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral trade ties and facilitating investment and business flows between Qatar and India.

The agreement establishes a broad framework for cooperation focused on positioning Qatar as a leading destination for Indian companies seeking to establish and expand operations, while enhancing commercial exchange between businesses in both markets.

The move reflects the two sides' shared commitment to deepening Qatar-India economic cooperation and institutional connectivity.

The MoU follows a series of high-level meetings held during a recent visit by a PHD Chamber delegation to Qatar to explore new avenues for trade and investment collaboration.

Under the partnership, both parties will work closely with Invest Qatar and Qatar Chamber to launch joint initiatives, including a dedicated roadshow in India highlighting Qatar's business ecosystem, market opportunities, and direct engagement between investors, institutions, and industry leaders from both countries.

The collaboration will also encourage Indian companies to explore opportunities through the QFC platform, with the center supporting eligible firms in establishing operations within Qatar.

CEO of QFC Mansoor Rashid Al Khater said QFC serves as a gateway for businesses seeking access to the Qatari market.

Through this partnership with the PHD Chamber, he added, they are creating new channels to attract investment flows and strengthen cross-border trade. Indian companies will benefit from QFC's globally competitive legal, regulatory, and tax framework that supports business growth and entrepreneurship.

For his part, CEO and Secretary-General of the PHD Chamber Dr. Ranjeet Mehta emphasized that this agreement marks a new phase of bilateral cooperation focused on advancing trade, investment, and knowledge exchange.

It reflects their commitment to expanding globally, he stressed, and enabling businesses to access new markets, while supporting sustainable growth opportunities in both regions.

QFC provides an internationally competitive platform for companies seeking to operate in Qatar and the wider region, while the PHD Chamber represents more than 150,000 businesses across India. (QNA)
