Doha, May 06 (QNA) - The Qur'anic Botanic Garden (QBG), a member of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), has concluded its educational programs for the 2025-2026 academic year, honoring the winners of programs that benefited around 400 male and female students and nearly 51 schools across various educational stages, in the presence of a distinguished group of partners, environmental experts, academics, and representatives of government entities.
The educational programs combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on and practical experience through the "Food Security Program", which aims to prepare a generation capable of understanding food security challenges and contributing to agricultural sustainability; the "Young Botanist Program‎‎‎", which seeks to develop students’ scientific research skills and introduce them to the fundamentals of botanical study and conservation; and the "Fun and Learn Program", which targets primary school students and presents simplified scientific concepts related to plants and the environment.
The outcomes of the programs also saw a research project by students from Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Secondary School for Boys, who won top positions in the "Young Botanist Program", qualify for the final stages of the Scientific Research and Innovation Competition for secondary schools organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
In his speech during the honoring ceremony, Business Development Manager at the Qur'anic Botanic Garden Eng. Ali Sultan Al Muftah explained that the educational programs were not merely activities, but an integrated learning journey aimed at instilling sustainability concepts, enhancing environmental awareness, and linking theoretical knowledge with practical application in the fields of sustainable agriculture and food security.
He added that the programs demonstrated strong student enthusiasm, active school engagement, and valuable partner support, all of which contributed significantly to achieving the intended goals and creating inspiring educational experiences that extend beyond the classroom, noting that investing in the awareness of future generations represents an investment in a more sustainable future, and efforts continue to further develop these programs to enhance their impact and innovation.
The event also included student presentations showcasing their practical experiences and the skills they acquired during their participation, in addition to a visual presentation highlighting key program outcomes, which contribute to building a generation that is environmentally conscious and committed to sustainability.
