N'Djamena, May 23 (QNA) - Supported by benevolent donors in Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) has dispatched a food aid convoy to the Massaguet area, about 70 km from the Chadian capital, N'Djamena, as part of an urgent humanitarian response.

The initiative coincides with the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and its "Greatest Days" campaign, which supports food and water projects.

The convoy included 310 food baskets, benefiting around 2,170 people. The aid targeted families affected by food insecurity, as hunger and malnutrition continue to rise in Chad.

This rapid response addresses a critical humanitarian situation in Chad, where international estimates warn that over 3 million people face acute food insecurity during the lean season spanning June to August 2026. Millions of Chadian children currently suffer from varying degrees of malnutrition, with hundreds of thousands experiencing life-threatening stages.

The distributed food baskets contain essential items that can support a family for about a month, helping them meet their basic needs during this difficult period.

To ensure aid reached the most vulnerable populations, Qatar Charity closely coordinated the project with local authorities and community leaders in Massaguet, an area deeply impacted by economic fragility and harsh climate conditions.

Khadija, a local government official in Masaghat, Massaguet, thanked Qatar Charity for the timely support. She said the assistance helped ease the suffering of families and brought hope to the community.

This project is part of a continuous series of field interventions led by Qatar Charity to combat escalating humanitarian crises across Chad's most vulnerable regions.

Amid mounting food security challenges in West and Central Africa, international reports stress the urgency of intensifying humanitarian aid alongside implementing sustainable agricultural and livelihood solutions.

Consequently, Qatar Charity urges the public to support "The Greatest Days" campaign during these blessed days of Dhul-Hijjah by donating to food and water initiatives. (QNA)
