Doha, May 21 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in coordination with the Ministry of Municipality, announced the launch of the National Initiative to Encourage Local Production and Support Adahi Animals for the year 1447 AH.

The sale of Adahi animals under the initiative begins today and will continue until the fourth day of Tashreeq, corresponding to May 30.

The initiative aims to support local production and provide Adahi animals to citizens at affordable prices.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Ministry said citizens are entitled to purchase one Adahi animal per Qatari ID card, provided the beneficiary is at least 18 years old. The statement added that the price of a locally bred sheep has been set at QAR 1,000, while the price of an imported sheep is also QAR 1,000.

The Ministry noted that Adahi animals are available at Widam Food Company's livestock yards in Al Shamal, Al Khor, Umm Salal, Al Wakrah, Al Shahaniya, and Abu Nakhla, as well as through the company's mobile application.

The statement added that the fees for slaughtering, cutting, packaging, and loading amount to QAR 50, including QAR 16 for slaughtering, cutting, and packaging, and QAR 34 for loading, through separate vouchers.

The Ministry further stated that citizens benefiting from the initiative may use the slaughtering, cutting, and packaging voucher from the launch of the initiative until the end of December 2026 if they do not wish to have the animal slaughtered immediately. (QNA)
