US President Expresses Dissatisfaction with Iranian Proposal to End War
Washington, May 01 (QNA) - US President Donald Trump revealed today that Iran has presented a new proposal to end the war, expressing his dissatisfaction with its contents.
Speaking as he departed the White House for Florida, Trump said that negotiations with Iran continued by phone after his envoys' trip to Pakistan was canceled, adding, "They are asking for things that are unacceptable."
He added that he was "frustrated" with the Iranian leadership, which he described as "divided," but later noted that there is some progress toward unifying their ranks.
Regarding the options available to end the situation in the Middle East, Trump said there are only two choices: war or a deal. He noted that he does not favor war from a humanitarian perspective, "but this option remains on the table."
It is worth noting that today marks sixty days since the US Congress was notified of the decision to launch military operations against Iran. This is the constitutional deadline that requires the White House to either withdraw military forces from the front or obtain formal congressional authorization to continue the operation.
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed that military operations have ceased since the ceasefire was declared on April 7th, indicating that this period cannot therefore be counted towards the sixty-day deadline. (QNA)
