Muscat, May 18 (QNA) - Omani Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held separate phone conversations on Monday with his Indian and Austrian counterparts.

During Al Busaidi's call with External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the two sides exchanged views on the ongoing situation in the region amid disrupted maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to ease tensions and find lasting, sustainable solutions to the crisis.

As for the Omani Foreign Minister's call with Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, it saw both sides go over regional and global developments and their repercussions.

The Omani and Austrian sides highlighted the need to continue diplomatic efforts and to intensify them in order to reach a breakthrough that allows the free flow of maritime supply chains and navigation in line with international law.

For that to happen, Al Busaidi and Meinl-Reisinger said, concerned parties need to be flexible and make the necessary concessions to achieve sustainable solutions that spare the Middle East and the world the specter of war and armed conflict. (QNA)
