Pentagon Says Cost of War on Iran Has Reached Nearly $29 Billion
Washington, May 13 (QNA) - United States Department of Defense said the total cost of US-led military operations against Iran had risen to nearly $29 billion, an increase of $4 billion from estimates announced in late April.
The department said the sharp rise in expenditures was primarily driven by the cost of maintaining and repairing military equipment, replacing damaged parts and covering increased operational expenses in the region.
It added that the financial estimates remain under continuous review by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and internal auditing and financial oversight teams within the department.
The proposed fiscal year 2027 budget put forward by the administration of US President Donald Trump allocates nearly $1.5 trillion for defense. (QNA)
