Beijing, May 13 (QNA) - China announced the launch of a global AI education service platform during the 2026 World Digital Education Conference in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, aiming to promote cross-border sharing of high-quality educational resources and further integrate AI into education.

The launch comes as part of a broader upgrade to the Smart Education of China, a digital education platform now accessible in around 220 countries and regions.

The upgraded platform expands its international services with new features to support teachers, students, and lifelong learners outside of China.

Among the platform's new features are a lifelong learning hub and a Chinese language learning community. These additions aim to broaden access to educational courses, resources, and digital learning networks through a unified platform.

The platform's launch reflects a broader trend in Chinese policies toward integrating emerging technologies into the education and public services sectors. Universities and research institutions across the country are expanding programs that integrate AI with other disciplines, such as the dual-degree program in sociology and AI launched by Harbin Engineering University.

The 2026 World Digital Education Conference, which runs from May 11-13, brings together policymakers, education experts, and technology specialists to discuss ways to reshape education systems through digital technologies and artificial intelligence. (QNA)
