Qatar Opens Registration for Third Summer Environmental Club Program
Doha, May 12 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has announced the opening of registration for the third edition of its Summer Environmental Club, a youth program aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability among students in Qatar.
The 2026 edition of the club will run from June 21 to July 2 and will host 20 Qatari students aged between 11 and 17.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry said the initiative forms part of its broader educational and awareness programs designed to strengthen environmental values among young people and introduce students to the country's environmental sector.
The program also seeks to encourage positive behaviors related to environmental protection and the conservation of natural resources.
The ministry urged parents to register interested students in line with the announced conditions, noting that places are limited and admission will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first edition of the Summer Environmental Club was launched in 2024 and ran for three weeks. It included lectures, workshops and field visits aimed at introducing participants to concepts such as sustainability, wildlife and marine conservation, and the importance of protecting natural resources.
Last year's second edition, held under the theme "Sustainability Generation", brought together 20 students between July 1 and 14. The program explored topics including smart cities, the circular economy and digital technologies that support sustainability efforts, alongside visits to environmental sites across the country.
The second edition also featured a partnership with UNESCO, which contributed specialized workshops to the program. Participants received internationally accredited certificates at the conclusion of the initiative.
The ministry said the annual program reflects Qatar's continuing efforts to invest in environmental education and engage younger generations in sustainability and climate-related issues. (QNA)
