Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Launches New E-Services
Doha, May 12 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change launched a new package of electronic services during the first quarter of this year, including 29 services through its website and 57 services through its mobile application Bee'ah, to simplify procedures, improve the quality of services provided to the public, companies, and beneficiaries, and accelerate transaction processing through digital channels.
This step comes as part of the ministry's efforts to strengthen digital transformation in its services, in line with its strategy aimed at achieving excellence in government service delivery through innovation, improving user experience, and developing digital systems to ensure efficient and flexible service provision.
In a statement issued today, the ministry said that the new services include 40 electronic services in the field of radiation protection, covering the issuance, renewal, amendment, and cancellation of personal licenses for work in radiation-related fields, licenses for the possession of radioactive materials and radiation devices, licenses for the import and export of radioactive materials, as well as licenses for vehicles transporting radioactive materials.
The package also includes 12 hazardous waste services, including renewal of permits for the disposal of hazardous healthcare waste, issuance of maritime transit permits for hazardous waste shipments, and extensions of maritime transit permits for hazardous waste shipments.
In addition, the package contains 16 electronic services affiliated with the Wildlife Development Department, including permits for quarry operations, issuance and renewal of permits for installing mobile crushers, permits to visit Fuwairit Beach, and permits to begin project work in wild vegetation areas, along with other services.
The package further includes 18 services related to the Natural Reserves Sector, available through the ministry’s website and the application.
These include environmental permits for temporary activities, land lease contracts for service activities, land lease contracts for motorcycle rental activities, permits to visit natural reserves, permits for filming in natural reserves, and permits to visit permit to visit whale shark and dugong aggregations.
In this context, Yousef Ibrahim Al Hamar, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, said that launching the new package of electronic services is part of the ministry’s efforts to develop the environmental services system and facilitate procedures for individuals, companies, and beneficiaries, in line with the country’s direction toward digital transformation and improving the efficiency of government services.
Al Hamar noted that the new services help organize the mechanisms for submitting and tracking applications electronically and facilitate transaction completion, particularly in areas related to technical and environmental licenses and permits.
He added that the ministry is working to transform services of a technical and regulatory nature into clear and user-friendly electronic services that save beneficiaries time and effort while reducing the need for in-person visits, without compromising the accuracy of procedures and approved requirements for each service.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs also pointed out that expanding electronic services reflects the ministry’s commitment to developing its digital tools and providing easier and more effective services, in support of its efforts to protect the environment and achieve the highest levels of compliance with approved standards and requirements.
