Islamabad, May 12 (QNA) - At least seven people were killed and dozens were injured in a massive blast at a crowded market in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, authorities said.
According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the blast occurred in the district of Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing seven people, including two police officers.
In a related development, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government's resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country, stressing that militants would not be allowed to hinder Pakistan's progress and development.
Pakistani security forces have for years conducted operations against armed groups active in the mountainous and border regions of northwestern Pakistan, where militant attacks targeting security personnel and civilians continue to pose a persistent security challenge. (QNA)
