US will Look to Form Coalition Opening Strait of Hormuz
Washington, May 01 (QNA) - The US administration affirmed its efforts to involve other countries in forming an international coalition to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
A cable from the United States Department of State said that it instructed US diplomats worldwide to invite other countries to join a new international coalition that would enable vessels to sail through the strait. The cable indicated that the proposed coalition would share information, coordinate diplomatically, and assist in enforcing sanctions.
The State Department added that the move is purely defensive, aimed at countering Iranian efforts to control transit through the strait. (QNA)
