Doha, April 9 (QNA) - Al Rayyan became the first team to qualify for the semifinals of the Qatar Cup men’s basketball tournament for the 2025-2026 season after defeating Al Khor 70-47 in their quarterfinal match held this evening at Al Rayyan Sports Club Hall.

The four quarters ended 23-6, 12-14, 21-16, and 14-11 in favor of Al Rayyan.

Al Rayyan’s Abdullah Yassin was named Player of the Match after scoring 15 points, grabbing one rebound, and providing three assists.

Al Rayyan will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between defending champions Al Arabi and Al Sadd in the semifinals scheduled for Apr. 13.

Earlier today, Al Sadd qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating Al Ahli 78-67 in the preliminary round.

Quarterfinal matches will continue tomorrow, Thursday, at Al Gharafa Sports Club Hall, where Al Wakrah will face Qatar, and Al Gharafa will take on Al Shamal in two evenly matched contests. The winners will meet in the semifinals.

It is worth noting that the Qatar Cup basketball record reflects strong historical competition, with Al Gharafa holding the record for the most titles (four), tied with Al Arabi, while Al Rayyan, Qatar, Al Wakrah, and Al Sadd have each won the title once, highlighting the competitive balance throughout the tournament’s history.
