Germany's Fuel Prices Hit Record High Despite Pricing Rule
Berlin, April 07 (QNA) - Fuel prices in Germany continued to rise despite the implementation of a new pricing rule, with diesel reaching record highs for a sixth consecutive day, according to data released on Tuesday.
Germany's automobile association ADAC said average diesel prices climbed to EUR 2.443 per liter, marking fresh record levels, while petrol prices neared their highest point since March 2022.
The average price of E10 petrol, the most widely used and cheapest grade in Germany, stood at around EUR 2.192 per liter, just 1.1-euro cents below its 2022 record.
Since the introduction of the so-called "12 o'clock rule" on April 1, E10 prices have risen by 8.5 cents per liter, while diesel has increased by about 12.7 cents.
Compared with pre-war levels, fuel prices have risen significantly, by more than 41 cents per liter for E10 petrol and nearly 70 cents for diesel.
Under the new regulation, fuel stations are allowed to raise prices only once per day, specifically at 12:00 noon local time, a measure aimed at reducing price volatility and improving market transparency. (QNA)
