Palestinian Health Ministry: Over 1,800 Health Facilities Destroyed or Damaged in Gaza Offensive
Ramallah, April 06 (QNA) - The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that over 1,800 healthcare facilities in Gaza Strip have been partially or completely destroyed due to the Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry said the estimated damage to the health sector's infrastructure in the southern governorates amounts to approximately 1.4 billion USD, according to international reports.
The ministry added that this year’s World Health Day comes at an exceptional time, marked by rising basic healthcare needs, limited local resources, and a financial blockade on the Palestinian government, with accumulated debts exceeding one billion dollars.
The ministry emphasized that health indicators continue to reflect structural challenges within Palestinian healthcare system, noting that the hospital bed rate in West Bank remains at 1.3 beds per 1,000 people, below global standards, limiting capacity, particularly in emergency and intensive care units.
