ICESCO and International Islamic Fiqh Academy Sign MoU to Promote Dialogue and Counter Hate Speech
Rabat, April 30 (QNA) - The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening scientific and intellectual cooperation in the fields of civilizational dialogue, coexistence, and countering hate speech and extremism.
The memorandum was co-signed by ICESCO Director-General Dr. Salim Al Malik and Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano.
On the occasion, Al Malik stressed the importance of the memorandum in expanding institutional cooperation between the two sides and enhancing joint efforts aimed at promoting the values of dialogue, understanding, and openness. For his part, Sano commended ICESCO's role and efforts in supporting member states in its fields of competence.
The memorandum provides for the exchange of knowledge resources, educational materials, and scientific publications, as well as the organization of conferences and specialized seminars on the principles of constructive dialogue, coexistence, and critical engagement with theories of clash of civilizations and cultural confrontation. It also includes cooperation on addressing sectarian intolerance and religious extremism, and the publication and translation of contemporary research and works related to tolerance, moderation, centrism, openness, and acceptance of others, in addition to reviving and disseminating heritage literature highlighting the contribution of Islamic law to establishing principles of coexistence.
