12th Meeting of Arab Regional Consultative Process on Migration and Refugee Affairs Commences
Cairo, April 27 (QNA) - The Arab League's General Secretariat organized Monday, via video conference, the 12th meeting of the Arab Regional Consultative Process on Migration and Refugee Affairs (ARCP), with the participation of contact points of the Arab member states, and representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
In a statement, the Arab League said that the two-day meeting focuses on the latest developments regarding the follow-up and review process of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018, and preparing member states for effective participation in the International Migration Review Forum scheduled for May in New York, in addition to reviewing the efforts of member states to follow up and review the GCM.
The meeting will also discuss the proposal submitted by Iraq regarding strengthening Arab cooperation to combat migrant smuggling, and adopting a practical consultation action plan for 2026-2027. (QNA)
