Qatar Science and Technology Park Hosts SYNC Spring 2026 Event
Doha, April 22 (QNA) - Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, has hosted the SYNC Spring 2026 conference, bringing together technology founders, innovators and experts from around the world.
In a statement, QSTP said the event reflects its role as a platform connecting local startups with global tech ecosystems, while strengthening Qatar's position as a hub linking regional talent with international innovation networks.
The hybrid event — held both in person and online — attracted more than 5,500 participants. Sessions focused on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and emerging technologies, with students and attendees from countries including Jordan, Lebanon, Turkiye and several European states.
During a panel discussion on Syria's tech ecosystem, QSTP President Rama Chakaki highlighted the importance of developing technology solutions aligned with local needs as a foundation for regional and global growth. She noted that Syria represents a promising market, with startups reportedly growing by 150%.
She added that initiatives such as SYNC aim to generate 25,000 technology jobs by 2030, in line with QSTP's efforts to support innovative companies and connect founders with global markets.
Majed Lababidi, Director of Investment and Ecosystem Integration at Alchemist Doha and head of SYNC's Doha chapter, said the local tech community is expanding rapidly, now comprising around 100 members. He noted that the initiative is also growing in cities such as Berlin, Riyadh and Dubai to create job opportunities and link talent with international markets.
On the international side, HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Syrian Arab Republic, Abdulsalam Haykal, outlined plans for digital transformation and rebuilding technical capacity, while HE Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat inaugurated a Talent and Employers Space aimed at connecting skilled professionals with job opportunities.
QSTP said hosting such dialogues reflects its continued commitment to fostering cross-border collaboration, developing talent, and advancing a knowledge-based economy through deep-tech innovation. (QNA)
