Woman Killed, 13 Injured in Armed Attack in Mexico
Mexico City, April 21 (QNA) - At least one woman was shot dead, and 13 others were injured by a gunman on Monday at Mexico’s Teotihuacan pyramids, a popular archaeological site in Mexico, authorities say.
The gunman, whose nationality remains unknown, committed suicide after opening fire at the tourist site that predates the Aztecs, said Cristobal Castaneda, the Security Secretary for Mexico state, where the site is located.
Six people were wounded by gunfire and taken to local hospitals, including a Canadian woman, a Colombian woman and child, a Brazilian and two Americans.
Seven other people were injured in the scramble for safety and were treated at the scene.
Shootings in Mexico are part of a wave of violence primarily linked to criminal gang activity. The country has recorded several deadly shootings on multiple occasions, including a 2020 school shooting in the city of Torreon. (QNA)
