Ukrainian Calls for Europe to Develop Homegrown Ballistic Missile Defense System
Kyiv, April 20 (QNA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Europe must seek to develop its own ballistic missile defense system.
In a statement, Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is already in talks with several countries regarding the establishment of such a system, noting that his country needs to build its own ballistic missile defense system within a year.
He said the task is very difficult but realistic, adding that he had already discussed it with major European countries, without naming them.
Russia uses ballistic missiles to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure, destroying thermal power generation and electricity transmission systems.
The Ukrainian President had previously confirmed that Russia carried out more than 3,700 attacks on his country in a single week.
Zelenskyy said in a post on Telegram, reported by the Ukrainian National News Agency (Ukrinform), that Russian forces launched extensive attacks on Ukraine in one week, using approximately 2,360 attack drones, more than 1,320 guided aerial bombs, and around 60 missiles of different types. (QNA)
