Riyadh, April 20 (QNA) - The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council has praised the State of Qatar's efforts in securing unanimous approval of a key emergency resolution at an international parliamentary gathering.
Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi commended Qatar, alongside several other countries, for its role in the adoption of the measure during the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held in Turkiye's Istanbul.
The resolution - submitted on the final day of the assembly by the State of Qatar in cooperation with a number of countries - addressed "the urgent need for concerted parliamentary efforts to preserve ceasefires and support peace-building in the Middle East and other regions".
Al Budaiwi said the unanimous approval of the emergency item underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting peace and stability efforts. He also highlighted the contribution of Qatar's Shura Council and its members in proposing and advancing the resolution. (QNA)
