6.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Tonga Islands in South Pacific
Nuku'alofa, April 20 (QNA) - A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the islands of Tonga in the South Pacific, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The agency said the quake occurred about 114 kilometers northeast of the village of Hihifo, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
There have been no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.
Tonga is an archipelago of 176 scattered islands in the South Pacific, of which only 52 are inhabited. It lies northwest of both New Zealand and Australia. (QNA)
