London, April 18 (QNA) - Coventry City have returned to the English Premier League after a 25-year absence, after the team drew 1-1 away to Blackburn Rovers.
Managed by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, needed just one point to mathematically secure promotion with three rounds remaining, which they achieved thanks to a late header by Bobby Thomas at Ewood Park that leveled the score.
After the final whistle, celebrations erupted on the pitch, along with jubilant scenes among the 7,500 fans who had traveled to attend the match.
Coventry currently top the table with 86 points from 43 matches, 13 points ahead of third-placed Millwall, while Ipswich Town, Millwall, Southampton, and Middlesbrough are competing for the second automatic promotion spot. (QNA)
