Washington, April 17 (QNA) - US President Donald Trump said Iran has announced the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, making it ready for navigation.

In a post on Truth Social, he said "Iran just announced that the Strait of Iran is fully open and ready for full passage".

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would remain fully open during the current ceasefire period, in line with the Lebanon–Israel truce.

In a post on X, he said all vessels would continue to pass freely along the coordinated route announced by Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization.

The Lebanon–Israel ceasefire announced by Trump came into effect earlier in the day. (QNA)
