Lebanese Army Reinforces Deployment in Southern Regions Following Ceasefire Agreement with Israeli Occupation
Beirut, April 17 (QNA) - The Lebanese Army began Friday assisting residents of villages and towns in southern Lebanon who were returning to their homes following the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation.
The army reinforced its deployment in the southern Litani sector while simultaneously carrying out its duties throughout the country.
In a statement, the army said that, as part of its plans to ensure the safety of citizens, its forces established temporary checkpoints, reopened roads, removed obstacles, and detonated unexploded ordnance.
The statement noted that one of its units reopened the Dbayn Marjeyoun road, which had previously been cut off by an Israeli attack, while another unit worked to reopen the Qasmiyeh-Tyre coastal bridge. Work is also underway to repair several bridges that were destroyed during the aggression.
The army command also urged citizens to cooperate with the instructions of the deployed military units and to avoid using roads closed by the military, as these lead to villages where Israeli occupation forces remain stationed.
In another development, a person was killed Friday when Israeli warplanes targeted a motorcycle in the town of Qounine, near Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.
US President Donald Trump announced yesterday (Thursday) that a ten-day ceasefire agreement had been reached between Lebanon and Israel. (QNA)
