Doha, April 16 (QNA) - Qatar's committee for the admission of lawyers convened on Thursday to review applications and regulatory matters concerning the legal profession, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country's judicial framework.

Chaired by HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, the meeting took place at the Ministry of Justice headquarters in Doha. During the session, four new lawyers formally took the legal oath after completing their required training period, marking their official entry into the profession.

The committee also examined a range of applications, including requests from professionals in equivalent fields seeking to be registered as practicing lawyers, as well as applications from trainees who have completed their qualification requirements. Additional requests related to lawyers affiliated with QatarEnergy were also reviewed.

Promotions within the profession formed a key part of the agenda. The committee considered applications to transfer two lawyers from the primary courts register to the list of those permitted to appear before the Court of Appeal. It also reviewed requests to elevate three lawyers from the appellate level to the Court of Cassation, Qatar's highest judicial authority.

Beyond admissions and promotions, the meeting addressed several regulatory and organizational issues tied to legal practice. These included reviewing reports from subcommittees and continuing discussions on proposed guidelines governing litigation permits, put forward by the Department of Lawyers' Affairs.

HE Al Mohannadi congratulated the newly admitted lawyers, underscoring the committee's commitment to fostering a supportive legal environment that enables practitioners to serve society effectively. He also urged trainee lawyers to adhere closely to their training programs at the Legal and Judicial Studies Center, highlighting the importance of developing professional skills and legal expertise.

The developments come as Qatar continues to refine its legal infrastructure, with authorities placing emphasis on professional standards and the advancement of legal competencies within the sector. (QNA)
