Beirut, April 16 (QNA) - Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has welcomed US President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, which is expected to take effect at midnight tonight.

In a statement, Salam welcomed the ceasefire announcement made by President Trump, noting that it was a pivotal Lebanese demand since the first day of the war, and a primary objective in the Washington meeting on Tuesday.

Salam expressed gratitude for all the regional and international efforts that contributed to reaching this outcome, particularly those of the United States, France, the European Union countries, and all Arab countries, praising the role played by Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan.

The US President had announced earlier a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, to begin tonight and last for 10 days. (QNA)
