Financial Analyst to QNA: QSE Index Maintains Positive Trajectory, Targets 11,000 Points
Doha, April 16 (QNA) - The Qatar Stock Exchange index closed the week higher, rising 0.69 percent to gain 72.97 points and reach 10,714.65, supported by gains in six sectors led by telecommunications (up 2.15 percent), industry (1.71 percent), banking and financial services (1.03 percent), real estate (0.78 percent), transport (0.02 percent), and consumer goods and services (0.02 percent), while insurance declined by 0.90 percent.
Financial market analyst Mubarak Al Tamimi said the QSE index rebounded positively since the start of April, noting it has risen by around 8 percent over three weeks, climbing from 9,925 points to approximately 10,770, an increase of more than 800 points. He attributed the gains to positive sentiment following the regional ceasefire, first-quarter corporate earnings, and investors seeking to capitalize on market opportunities, particularly after price corrections in some stocks.
Market capitalization increased from QAR 629.704 billion last week to QAR 638.547 billion, reflecting gains of more than QAR 8.8 billion.
Al Tamimi added that, from a technical perspective, the index is targeting the 11,056 level, noting that some investors and portfolios are taking advantage of market opportunities through short-term trading, especially amid ongoing geopolitical volatility in the region.
Trading activity remained strong over the past week, with total value exceeding QAR 2.584 billion across 158,776 transactions in all sectors. (QNA)
