Qatar Judiciary Highlights Reconciliation Efforts to Back Family Stability
Doha, April 15 (QNA) - Qatar's Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to support the family as a cornerstone of society and a driver of stability and balanced development.
In a statement marking Qatar Family Day on April 15, the SJC said it strengthens family ties through the Family Court by promoting amicable settlements before litigation and holding reconciliation sessions early, combining legal principles with a humanitarian approach in family cases.
HE Head of the Follow-up Affairs Office at the Family Court, Judge Hareb Al Mohannadi said the Council gives special attention to qualifying its personnel to manage reconciliation efficiently, noting that reconciliation between spouses is seen as the best way to protect the family unit and enhance stability.
He added that the Council celebrated in February the graduation of the first batch of the Family Mediation Diploma program, delivered in cooperation with Qatar University, where 20 mediators completed intensive training focused on dispute resolution skills based on the latest professional practices.
He indicated that the reconciliation rate in divorce cases over the past six months reached 48 percent, reflecting the effectiveness of efforts to bridge differences and reduce the impact of disputes, especially on children.
He also noted the continuation of digital community awareness efforts through the family initiative, presented in its fourth season during Ramadan 2026 in podcast format, addressing social, educational, and psychological topics that enhance family awareness.
The SJC said it continues to develop electronic Family Court and documentation services to streamline procedures and enhance quality.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing family justice, promoting reconciliation, and supporting stability as a pillar of a cohesive society. (QNA)
