Cairo, April 12 (QNA) - The Arab League welcomed the signing by representatives of the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State of Annex No. (1) to the Unified Development Agreement.

This annex includes the adoption of the state's general spending schedules for the first time in over 13 years, and the League considers it a significant positive development towards achieving stability and development in the country for the benefit of the Libyan people.

In a statement today, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that this step reflects the continuity of institutional work following the agreement on the Unified Development Program in November 2025. He added that it affirms the ability of Libyans to overcome differences if they uphold the higher national interest, and supports the strengthening of trust among Libyan parties, thus paving the way for broader agreements to end the transitional phases.

Aboul Gheit reiterated the Arab League's readiness, through its specialized organizations, to support national efforts aimed at implementing the Unified Development Program. This support stems from the League's commitment to its responsibilities towards Libya and its dedication to assisting Libyans in finding appropriate solutions and reaching a comprehensive political settlement.
