Foreign Minister of Egypt Holds Phone Talks with German and Italian Counterparts on Regional Developments
Cairo, April 11 (QNA) - Foreign Minister of Egypt Badr Abdelatty held two separate phone calls with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Italy Antonio Tajani and Foreign Minister of Germany Johann Wadephul to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East following the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and the launch of talks between the two sides in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of building on the ceasefire announcement as a key pillar for de-escalation efforts, emphasizing the priority of diplomatic engagement and negotiations to address the current situation. He also underlined the need to unify regional and international efforts during this critical phase to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire.
The discussions also reviewed the serious developments in Lebanon amid continued Israeli attacks on several areas of the country. The Egyptian foreign minister reiterated Egypt's full condemnation of the Israeli escalation and targeting of civilians, describing it as a grave escalation and a clear violation of international law. He called for an immediate halt to the attacks and stressed that the international community, including the European Union, must assume its responsibilities in pressuring for an end to the escalation. He reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of any infringement on Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and its full solidarity with the country. (QNA)
