Egypt President, Italy PM Discuss Regional Developments, Bilateral Relations
Cairo, April 11 (QNA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed in a telephone call with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni the latest developments in the Middle East region and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
El Sisi stressed the importance of preserving regional peace and stability by building on the ceasefire agreement recently reached between the United States and Iran, and launching a serious negotiation process to resolve outstanding issues, affirming his country’s full support for the security and stability of Arab countries and its categorical rejection and condemnation of any violation of their sovereignty or infringement on the capabilities of their peoples.
For her part, Meloni stressed the need to maintain stability in the region, emphasizing the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation without imposing fees, and maintaining the security of the Gulf states.
On developments in Lebanon, the Italian Prime Minister expressed her country's hope of dialogue that leads to a ceasefire. (QNA)
