Bahrain Condemns Missile and Drone Attacks at EU-Regional Meeting
Manama, March 09 (QNA) - Bahrain has strongly condemned missile and drone attacks targeting several countries in the region as a "blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
Speaking during an emergency virtual meeting convened by the European Union with regional leaders on current developments, HH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa said Bahrain, along with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jordan and other countries, had come under "unprecedented" attacks that targeted residential areas and critical infrastructure.
He said the affected civilian infrastructure included energy facilities and water desalination plants, adding that the strikes had caused civilian casualties and injuries.
Prince Salman said the attacks also threaten both regional and global stability and "cannot be justified under any circumstances."
He called on the international community to take decisive action to ensure the protection of international maritime navigation and the continued flow of goods through the Strait of Hormuz.
He urged the United Nations Security Council and the European Union to act urgently and firmly, warning that failure to do so could lead to further attacks and undermine international peace and security. (QNA)
